Last year I was given the Tilly’s Choice Award for songwriting. I felt particularly honoured to be included in the first instance as a finalist in the Roddy Read Songwriting Comp, from which the Tilly’s Choice Award draws from, but even more so to be singled out via Tilly’s Choice to say ‘hey, we think you are pretty good, we want to show some other folks this and encourage you to do more of that making up songs thing.’
This is the first year that the Tilly’s Choice Award has run and I am the first recipient. The crew at Folk On The Fringe, which has been running on Radio 3MDR (97.1FM) for some decades, are the people behind the Tilly’s Choice Award, and they are featuring me and my songwriting this coming Wednesday night at 7pm AEDST.
